This was an unexpected surprise from my Uncle Vincent at Christmas time. An exceptionally good Bordeaux for the price, drinkable alone but would go very well with food, I’m finding it goes particularly well with chocolate. Slight musty on the nose (my favorite quality in a Bordeaux) and lots of Blackberry. What I picked up (before I looked at the notes) is licorice but it’s really latent. Breathe it in deep and the licorice comes in way late and seems to take a couple of seconds to show up (so breath in long and slow) but it’s there. There is also a little spice in there but light, noticable but light.
Exceptionally well balanced this is a very good bottle of wine, even if it’s a little more than you would usually spend on a bottle of wine. Makes a great gift for the wine snob in your life.
P.S. The deep plum/ruby color is gorgeous.
